John A. O’Donnell, Jr.

John earned his J.D from DePaul University College of Law in 2015, as well as an M.A, in Journalism, in 2009. John attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison, earning his B.A. in Political Science in 2006. While attending law school, John was an Editor for DePaul College of Law’s Journal of Sports Law & Contemporary Problems.

John is admitted to the state bars of Illinois (2015) and Wisconsin (2022). He is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, the Western District of Wisconsin and the Eastern District of Michigan.
John is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA), and the Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA).

Obtained a defense verdict after a four-day jury trial on behalf of a local casino in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois in Will County. The Plaintiff, a patron of the casino, claimed that she was falsely arrested and falsely imprisoned by casino security staff. The Plaintiff also accused the casino staff of battery and general negligence that led to injuries. Plaintiff initially claimed the security staff caused her a right shoulder tear, aggravation of a previous left shoulder tear, and other bodily injuries resulting in approximately $175,000.00 in medical bills. The Plaintiff asked the jury for approximately $852,000.00. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the casino and against the Plaintiff, awarding no damages.
